Could you mind a small amount from a smaller PC setup?

Although you may mine cryptocurrency with cheap hardware, it serves no purpose.
You'll probably need years to mine something significant, and the payout would be incredibly meager.
I can still recall trying to mine
 
You can spend just around $1000 to set up a small mining rig. You can even start mining on GPU. Earnings depend on various factors but your small setup (under $1000) can earn $5-$6 per day on average
 
Its better not to mine with low end pc, it have many downsides, one it will damage you pc because any mining needs a high performance pc and when you start mining it will make you pc busy and heat it up that will damage it, and after that you can't make any money from that, even you can't withdraw your mining coins from it because the mined coin will be very very very little, so its better not to spend your time on that.
