I don't think that Cryptocurrencies will entirely replace physical currencies. But they will surely be in more use than the physical currencies. Especially with most companies accepting payments using the cryptocurrencies.
Years ago I thought it would happen a day not so far. But due to the recent cryptocurrencies bans by this and that country and seeing this trend being contagious, I'm now worrying about the other way round: the extinction, little by little, of the cryptocurrencies. As the government A bans cryptocurrencies, it happens the government B immediately copies that attitude. Then the government C copies the government B and so on. If we add that in many countries no commerce until today accepts cryptocurrencies as payment method, substitution becomes even harder. In any way, I really hope this trends reverts. It will take a lot of time to replace the current fiat currencies. This is because even in developed countries, cryptocurrency is not a mainstream thing. So it will definitely take some time to become a mainstream thing. Considering the fact that governments ban cryptocurrencies, this can also prevent cryptocurrencies to replace fiat currencies.
