Between mining and investment what would you choose?

Let's say you have $1000, would you use this money to set up a small mining rig and mine bitcoin or invest this money in Bitcoin? Well, I will choose the second option, even though first option is better in terms of profits and also has lesser risk. I choose to invest because I do not incur any expenses just like in mining.

I sincerely prefer the investment, since I don't have to invest separately in equipment, pay for electricity, etc. Direct investment in cryptocurrencies is a more passive option than mining cryptocurrencies, which is more like a business.
