What happens if Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies get hacked?

I think there's been some concern going around after the casinos in Vegas were blackmailed into sending like $15 million to bribers who had stolen the casinos private info. This made me wonder what could happen if hackers did the same to Bitcoin. Could that happen? What happens to Bitcoin if something crazy like that were to happen? Could Bitcoin recover or would that be the end of it?

I worry a lot about cryptocurrencies, as I don't think there's any 100% safety net to stop hackers or thieves.

Bitcoin has not been hacked in 15 years of existence and an attack on the network could only happen if someone took over 51% of the network's computing, which is known as a 51% attack, although it is unlikely that it would happen, it could happen, I think it could recover from said attack since it is proven that the attacker could not obtain much economic benefit from said attack, since if he used that computing power to do good and mining bitcoins would be much more profitable.

Bitcoin has never been hacked. However, a lot of cryptos has been hacked. The biggest hack so far was on Axie Infinity Ronin network and hackers stole $625 million. Likewise Poly Network encountered $611 million hack. Since most crypto coins are created by companies, they will continue to make changes in their system to make the coins secure.
