What gives Ethereum's value the potential to increase?

Ethereum does not always increase. It also falls. In May it was $4300 and now it has halved. However, it is also true that it went zero to hero just in 5 years. Until a year ago, it was just $750.
 
I am not n expert, therefore, I do not know why ethereum became bigger than litecoin, the second crypto currency and ripple, the third crypto currency? This is a big surprise.
 
Etherum has a good smart contract and with so many little currencies trading on it block chain it gives it the value and always going market value
 
That's true. Ethereum can be used to create ERC20 tokens and smart contracts. A lot of crypto tokens have been created on Ethereum platform. Since ethereum platform has a lot of use case, its native tokens have high value.
 
Along with ethereum's imminent hard fork and the implementation of EIP 1559, two other factors fuelling Ether's price may be coming from Google's reversal to its U.S crypto advertising policy as well as greater regulatory clarity coming out of the U.S- Ethereum's biggest market.
 
The value of ethereum is increasing because it is a fast growing crypto and the demand for it is really high. It is normal that the higher the demand of a commodity,the higher the value. This is the case of ethereum.
 
Demand for ethereum in the marketplace is one of the reason why the price go up. It seems people found bitcoin expensive. So people are diverting their attention to the affordable cryptocurrency. Perhaps this might be the reason why the price of ethereum goes up.

Bitcoins is expensive no doubt but at the same time ethereum is also expensive. If you are talking in terms of how expensive a cryptocurrency is then people are diving into new coming project.
