So I have an oldish pc and I want to turn it into a miner, but I am unsure what needs to be upgraded, so I would love if someone could guide me in the right direction.

These are the specs:

CPU
AMD Athlon II X3 450
Rana 45nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 334MHz (5-5-5-15)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. GA-M56S-S3 (Socket M2)
Graphics
ASUS VH222 (1920x1080@60Hz)
2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (ASUStek Computer Inc)
Storage
298GB Western Digital WDC WD3200AAJS-00B4A0 ATA Device (SATA )

I know I need a better graphics card for sure. What about the rest?

using a one single GPU for mining will make you pay what that GPU generates in electricity fees, maybe if you had atleast 5 GPU's, you'd still make some profit by mining some ETH, also, your GPU is an overkill for the rest of the hardware in your PC, maybe selling it and getting something newer would be better

I have no idea sire, maybe we can ask some experts on mining forums so they can help us out, we in turn help others too, I will get back to you in a jiffy when am done doing my own findings to make sure we get it right, no more loss yes I said so, it's a new year so to say,
