Are cryptocurrency and bitcoin the same thing?

Some persons taught that Bitcoin is the only Cryptocurrency will gave in the world. Bitcoin might be the first ever existed but not the only coin, more than 5,000 of coins are still lying in the market looking for investors to invest huge amount of money into it to pump their price high.

Cryptocurrencies encompass all including bitcoin and the altcoins. Many people ignorantly refer to crypto when they are really talking about bitcoin and the reason is because some only have knowledge of bitcoin with little or none of the others.

Cryptocurrency is just a general name for a digital currency and all digital currency can be called a cryptocurrency but a bitcoins is a digital currency and the name of that digital currency is bitcoins, bitcoins is a cryptocurrency a cryptocurrency is a digital currency

Though some persons do confuse the term cryptocurency with bitcoin,this is because whenever there is a discusion about cryptocurency, they always think it is about bitcoin because its the flagship coin.

Here in my locality not everyone know other other coins, they call every other coins BTC. They thought Bitcoin is the cryptocurrency itself. When you try to correct them they simply get confused. I just hope one day they get to understand better.

I think that this is actually the most logical explanation that I have seen because you not of people usually try to confuse the two of them when it is not necessary.

Every cryptocurrency has it own technology in which it was created to run. A cryptocurrency can be established with a block chain technology but could share the same network with so many other cryptocurrency.

What i am trying to say here is that bitcoins is a different cryptocurrency entirely but have never shared it blockchain technology with any other cryptocurrency nor it's network. It was the first cryptocurrency in existence and every other cryptocurrency are following the ethereum network, smart chain, Tron network or the Solana. Bitcoins is not among these networks I have mentioned.
