Social proof is a statement posted on public platform from a normal people (not a marketer, or influencer) about the product or service they use. This is done on a voluntary basis, especially on social media. Social proof can make or break your business. If you get positive social proof, you will get a lot of sales. When there is negativity, you will lose sales.

So in a way a review from anyone on social media? I think it's a good way to get your product out there, and also allows customers to air their thoughts and opinions about the product. Of course them talking bad about your product would be a possibility, but that's the price you pay for wanting others opinions or reviews. But, you could also get great comments or reviews, and that's the pro side of using it.

While getting social proof when you are selling on social site is easy, it might be difficult to get social proof for the products yo sell through your own sites and online marketplaces. You can sure get reviews but social proof are different from reviews.
