Why are there so few or no real estate agents in the neighborhoods?

The reason for that is because maybe the location you are living is not an estate and as a result of this you may not be able to see an estate agent ,most of the estate agents are living in the estate themself for better marketing.
You may be right, in the case of marketing a property, but in the case of rentals, I don't think they live in it to get clients. At least in my country it doesn't work that way. Although it is a very good point that you describe.

Why do we need agents to buy property in the initial stage? In our case, we have very good home-listing sites that give us detail, price, loan/mortgage facility, and everything else one wishes to learn about any property. They also provide open home (inspection, etc)
We have two popular ones here (No referral links)
Then we have a number of other websites just like in the UK

I don't actually know your location but I will be very much interested if you can tell me about it,every location of the world have their own way of organising most of their life and maybe your location way of organisation might actually be different from the one we have here

In my country real estate agents have their offices and do not live in the real estate properties. If the agent's presence is requested, he/she is located at his/her place of work or you call by phone to make an appointment. I live in Venezuela.

Wow that's nice, I don't really know much about your country but I think the idea of real estate agents having their own office is actually the best, I don't even know how it is arranged in my country since I do not have the money and the interest to invest in real estate now.

If this is the way it works here, that's why I was struck by the fact that there are countries where the agents live in the real estate properties to do their job. On that side here it is totally different, in some cases they do have the key, but only to show the property.

You are correct @Sincerem , most agents tend to live or work in urban areas, and this is due to the large profits that can be achieved there, which are not obtained in rural areas because of their low costs.
 
I believe this actually depends on the location you are because in my location as I know there are a lot of real estate agents organisation and offices around, I think it depends on your location because that also play an important factors in real estate business.

Yes, each country acts differently when it comes to real estate management, some are similar but there are always differences. And this calls my attention, since it is possible to apply the benefits of other countries in our country and get better profits. Of course, if the laws allow it.

At the beginning, when I created the thread, I had not thought about it, but as the posts have gone by, I have come to the conclusion that many agents make the decision to work with wealthy people, and in addition fear for their safety in areas with economically poor people.
 
It really depend on country because there are some country it will not be too difficult for you to get agent in real estate, sometimes it depends on your location.
