Where do I get contractors for my building project?

Plans is in top gear to build an event center in my area for a friend that is giving me this task not because I am highly competent for it but because he trusts me so much, due to that I don't want to disappoint him.
My work is just to monitor and supervise workers currently working on site, bringing new workers and generally managing and coordinating the whole project.
There is a need for a contractor with whom I will work with to deliver this project, where do I get a competent contractor from? Where are the kinds of places they usually are?

You should probably contact experienced architects or architectural company for best results. I believe you can find their office in your place of residence

For big projects you should contact companies the have been in the business for while they should also show you project they have done the is or similar to yours.

It is very common to find out a contractor because now there are lot of contractors.

If you are looking for competent contractors then I think that the best place to look is either online where you will find many builders and will be able to see the work that they have done as well or you can go to the building supply store where you buy bricks and so forth and chances are that they have someone that they are in contact with that could help you with the building as well.
