Domain is just the name of the website. Some people register a domain and not use it maybe the aim is to sell the domain name. So what is the big deal of a domain name that it can be sold for a higher price? Why do some people buy an existing domain when they can think of a similar name for their planned website?

Is there a way if find out what the domain was used for in the past? I mean how do I check the expired domain to know if it is good to go?

Its easier, when you go to the domain expiry date, you'll notice how many months is remaining for it to expire.

Buying an existing domain will save you a lot of stress and task of starting from the scratch. It's like hiring an experience worker. An existing domain would already have some internet history and qualities that makes it different from new.

I think old domains are recognised on search engines and its contents can easily be tracked on search engines cos they've established themselves than the new ones. That's one of the reasons why others buy old domains.

One reason one might consider buying an existing domain is for domain flipping business that involves the buying of old or existing business and selling later at a profit.

Because to some people buying this particular existing domain name, creating a similar name to this very name won't cut it for them, they just have to get this very name that is already existing.

The main reason I can see for someone to go and buy an existing domain is because the domain has some familiarity and closeness to the type of product or services such a person is or wants to offer to their audience

The main reason why we buy existing domain is simply because the domain isnin existence and its already been known by many people. And you don't really need much advertisement before people come to you.

The old domain name may already have some traffic and this would be much more easier for the site owner than using another domain that's not having much traffic.

Old domains have more value because search engines likes old domains. Old domains also have backlinks which can be good considering the SEO factor.

Other than that, it is also possible that many people would flock to your website since they are quite aware of the old domain name. People do come back to old websites. However, most of the people would tend to forget websites.

There are so many reasons for buying an existing domain. One of the reasons being that your preferred domain has already be registered by another person. Some domains helps you to rank higher than others.

If the domain was already associated with a website and you use that domain for a new website, you might be in SEO trouble as your website might be showing a lot of broken links

Maybe the solution to this problem is to hire an SEO expert and a web designer to get things fixed? Is not it much better to buy an existing domain that is somewhat related to the niche of your website? For example, if I want to start a health blog, then isn't it much better to buy a domain that is related to health?
