What is a DDoS Attack?

Have you ever been a victim of this type of hack? Distributed Denial of Service is short for DDoS. Hackers attack website or an internet connection by overloading the victim's website or IP with thousands of packets with the intention of making it impossible for intended use. Here is a video to explain more:

I had this problem once when someone managed to get access to the backend because of some database leaks which revealed one of my old passwords. Unfortunately, I was using that password on my forum so I was targetted after I changed everything and they couldn't access my backend anymore

I have experienced the horror of a DDoS attack before and it's a little too much to handle.
You can't do much and you will lose members because of it. It's better to avoid it no matter what. For that, precautions needs to be taken by the website management folks.

They will have to try spam prevention plugins and use services like Cloudflare which can help you out. Cloudflare offers it's services for free most of the time. So, make use of such services.

A Denial-of-Service (DoS) assault is an assault intended to close down a machine or organization, making it difficult to reach to its planned clients. DoS assaults achieve this by flooding the objective with traffic, or sending it data that triggers an accident. In the two cases, the DoS assault denies real clients (for example representatives, individuals, or record holders) of the administration or asset they anticipated.

I have actually been on a site when this happened. It overloads the system with thousands of fake traffic thereby denying real users the ability to access it. It's actually an old system of hacking and I don't see too much practical use of it today.

In computing, a denial-of-service attack is a cyber-attack in which the perpetrator seeks to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users by temporarily or indefinitely disrupting services of a host connected to the Internet.

That is what a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is—a method where cybercriminals flood a network with so much traffic that it cannot operate or communicate as it normally would. ... All it takes to create a DDoS attack are two devices that coordinate to send fake traffic to a server or website.

DDos attack is actually meant
Distributed Network Attacks are often referred to as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. ... The DDoS attack will send multiple requests to the attacked web resource – with the aim of exceeding the website's capacity to handle multiple requests… and prevent the website from functioning correctly.

DDos attacks happens all the time, sometimes it is as a result of a paid job, perhaps the owner of the website is a strong competition of another, the other pay hackers to attack the website. That is why you must ensure that your Web has the best and maximum security protocols.

DDoS is a simple, effective and powerful technique that’s fueled by insecure devices and poor digital habits. It’s one of the more troubling areas in cybersecurity today simply because it’s incredibly difficult to prevent and mitigate. And it doesn’t matter how big or small a website is, either.

A DDoS or DoS (Denial of Service) is network traffic that attacks a specific network server; it is powerful if more users were attacking a server, but nowadays, there were already tools or fixes to avoid a DDoS attack but were so expensive so that some companies don't want to invest on it.

The only i know about ddos attack is attackers load the bots with a complicated request that taxes the target server as it tries to respond. The request might require database access or large downloads. If the target gets several million of those requests in a short time.

Denial of access is a situation where by damage is caused to a company as their clients are denied access to the website due to criminality activities by hackers. It will be great if there could be solution to this problem to minimize damages to the company.

With the rise of data thefts and cybercrimes, people are now curious to know “What is a DDoS attack”. In fact, DDoS attacks are a major concern in Internet security today.DDoS stands for the distributed denial-of-service.

For example, Dyn, a major service provider for popular websites, was knocked offline last October. Shortly before that attack, Brian Krebs, a popular cybersecurity journalist, suffered a massive attack on his site in retaliation of his reporting. He’s not the only journalist cybercriminals have targeted, either.

No I have not but

No I have not but the looks of things it is for a specific purpose. Maybe a competitor is using it as a means to slow your activities which will make you to lose your traffic.

How then do one solve this? I'm here to learn.
