There is a common belief that a person received pensions when he retires. This is a commonly known fact. However, I always think if this is the only criterion that makes a person eligible to receive pension? What if a person resigns from a job before he retires? Will such a person still receive pension?

Pension is given to people who reach a certain age or work for a certain number of years. In my home country, you can receive a pension only when you are 60 or have worked for 20 years.

Pension benefits will accrue only if you put in a stipulated years of service. Just by attaining the retirement age, one may not receive the pension benefits.
