Is reddit helpful for SEO? Has anybody tried Reddit links? What are your results?

Perfect place to advertise what you need to however there are rules and things that you need to be aware of. There's a rel="nofollow" on links you post in reddit, which means google ignores them. Except for some cases, when reddit removes the rel="nofollow" from the links in your comment. Like if your comment is upvoted a lot, or the original post is upvoted a lot. I'm not sure exactly when "nofollow" is lifted, you can research it. But I suspect its ambiguous on purpose.

Nothing stopping you and get replies from making topics on reddit.

You can't get more benefit but you can increase your link authority as it is linked to popular websites and you can fetch organic traffic for you websites. As Empire said nofollow links has no SEO value.

Yes, sure. Reddit is like Quora. They are very good at giving your site some traffic juice. But you need to do it carefully. Reddit mods are very fast at banning people who post unsolicited links and adverts on the site.

I have used it myself, you need to gain authority in the forum in a particular niche/category. Plus you should have the right number of Karmas before you start promoting your links on reddit.

Reddit is one of the internets oldest QA and community platform. And so the traffic over there each year is pretty much matured traffic. You will find that reddit can bring you some loyal customers if you have shop or so. But for youtube videos and others, you don't get much regular traffic from that place. But it is still valuable for long term growth though.

To be honest, I would pass on reddit. The fact that most subreddits are very strict about promotion, it's almost pointless to promote on reddit. I would steer clear of it, or if you really must, start your own subreddit and post your content there as well. Posting to other subreddits will likely get you flagged and then eventually banned.

As well, I never had luck with reddit, as every time I tried to do anything, I get caught breaking some rule I didn't even know about.

You must be kidding right? Social sharing is entirely different from search engine optimization. Reddit is a social media platform with an element of a discussion board. In fact reddit is just like forums, where the users discussion on a particular topic on each thread. Sharing on reddit can get you traffic if the community likes your content, however, it has nothing to do with SEO>

True indeed. Reddit is a discussion board. If your content is favored by the members, you can gain tons of traffic. However, if the community does not like your content, they can flag it as spam. Reddit does not work like facebook or twitter. It is entirely different. If you do not post on the related thread, it will be deleted.

I think reddit works for traffic if the shared content becomes popular among the redditors. SEO is basically a technique to make your website search friendly and display on the search results, Reddit has nothing to do with this factor.
