Must I follow preset rules to be successful in business?

Such a rule for business sounds funny to me. If one has a high paying job then there is no valid reason to quit the job even if he had invested heavily in a business. If he quit and his business fails then he would be a double failure.

Personally I don't think you need to follow certain rules to be successful in business, everybody has their own individual strategy which they used to excel in their own businesss. I just believe you should choose your own way but just ensure that whatever you do, you should remain disciplined, dedicated, committed, consistent and hardworking so that you can turn out successful.

I checked the internet to see if there is any article or written textbook that state rules to be successful as a business owner. Something like a startup rule book. And rule #001 in the startup rulebook says that all founders must quit their jobs and work for free. Funny!

The dynamics of business makes it impossible to have such rules. You have to do what’s right for your situation
