Yes, I think so, that's why you need to be very careful when employing people, if care is not taken you are going to employ a lot of staffs which is very bad for a start.
 
First of all, you must find out the points that cost is unnecessary. It might not even be from the numbers of staff. It might be from the production method adopted. When trying to reduce costs, we should always take a wholistic view.
 
That's the main problem some business do , they prefer reducing the number of employee to reduce cost because they thinks that's the only solution . What about looking at other aspect in the company that might be affecting the cost of production,
 
If the business is facing big challenges, then it is a must that the firm should consider downsizing. No one wants to get sacked and no one would want to sack anyone, but considering that it is better that some go instead of the business sinking makes it a better one to look into.

Whenever it is not possible for the business to make profit and also pay the whole staff that is working under their employment, the only possible means to make their business operation workable is to cut down on their staff numbers. This is so that they can be able to pay those that are working for them. This will prevent that they don't have crisis on their hand for owing their workers.

It might be possible that a company might need staff members initially. However, they may be facing many different kinds of issues related to managing business and this is when they cut down the number of staff members working in the company. This is something that many companies and their employees had to face during the pandemic.

The moment it's very obvious that you cannot be paying a lot of workers who are not contributing effectively to the productivity of your business, it is always in your best interest to relieve some workers who doesn't have much impact being under your employment. Your business cannot continue being in loss because you want to keep paying everybody as a Father Christmas.

It is very important for a business to realise the importance of employees and workers who are working in the company. In many cases, many businesses may lose talented employees due to this exact reason. This may be the company's loss, as workers may leave the company and find better paying jobs in the end.

When you cannot be able to pay your workers especially the ones that are of better input in your business, then there is a problem that should be addressed that is about how your business is generating sales which is probably not going well because you're not generating more money to be enough to pay them. This is something that you need to take care of as quickly as possible because it is capable of rendering your business useless.

I think that a business should manage this issue properly. If a business is not generating enough sales, then they should realise this earlier. Having said that, in case if the business is quite new, then I think that initially it would be a really great idea to keep a limited number of staff members.
