How to Design an Online Marketplace?

An online marketplace is a website where sellers offer goods and services available for purchase, and buyer buy the goods and services listed for sale. The online marketplace is basically an eCommerce site where people can buy and sell goods and services. Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, Fiverr, all are online marketplaces.

One of my ambitious projects is to launch my own online marketplace focused on buying and selling webmaster services like Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing, Social Media Optimization, Digital Marketing, Social Media Management, Website Design and Development etc. The marketplace will provide platforms for would-be webmasters and experienced webmasters to buy and sell services. Think about something like Fiverr but with a focus on webmaster services.

What Content Management System should I use for this purpose? Where can I get the tutorial for designing this kind of website.

I work on wordpress and I agree the workplace has great functionality to create any kind of website. However, for the kind of website I have in my mind, I am concentrating on CMS that are specifically developed for this purpose.

It's a software that helps web merchant/businesses build, contol and manage a multi seller eCommerce marketplace
Working by the eBay and Amazon model.
You can also invite vendors, give them access to micro-stores on your online marketplace, and take commissions from the sales they make.
Other software like Yo!Kart and Sharetribe can help out.

I tested various sites on wordpress, ad wordpress is simply great. However, when you are trying to create sites on specific niches, wordpress has limitations. I know this because I have tried this.

I don't know aboutCS-Cart Multi-Vendor or Yo!Kart and Sharetribe for that matter. But anyway thanks for suggestings these software. I want a multi-vendor site something like eBay but only reserved for selling digital services.

Here we are not talking about random stuff like research target market, choose the right business model etc. When I am trying to launch an ambitious project, do you think I will attempt it without researching the target market and the right business model. Here I am basically talking about which software to choose for building online marketplace. I was also hoping to get tips on multi-vendor online marketplace.

One very funny thing is that the user side of most online stores look almost the same. I advice that on a budget, you go for shopify plug ins as they have a lot of plug ins to use from.

You can design an online marketplace by using a service known as WordPress which has website design template for online marketplace. You will have to start a website for an online marketplace using wordpress to create such a website.

I have created online store with wordpress. Woocommerce eases the work. I have never explored the possibilities and never done research, but I would like to know if it is possible to create a multi vendor ecommerce platform on wordpress.

I have tested woocommerce with WordPress. Yes, it is free but you will have to spend money on a good theme and some paid plugins. Still the cost is very low.

I do not now much about this topic but I hear that CMS like drupal and joomla allows you to create multi vendor ecommerce marketplace. maybe you should try one of these cms.

If you want to built a proper online marketplace, a multi vendor marketplace, you need to try content management system like drupal or joomla. But you need programming skills.

I really don't know how to design an online marketplace. I also don't know the content management system you could use for this purpose. I feel you can find tutorials for designing the kind of website online.
