Smuggling basically refers to the transfer of goods illegally from one place to another. It is an activity which consists of the importation or exportation of goods or living beings by wrong or unlawful means with the objective of evading taxes. It is illegal methods of conducting business and is done secretly. The principle causes of smuggling are greed for wealth ignorance and lack of nationalism or patriotism.
The legal goods smuggled through Pakistan in different destinations are worth 2.8 Billion Dollars per year alone. In fact according to the latest reports Pakistan is losing 2.62 Billion worth of revenue per year by the smuggling of just 11 goods.

Smuggling in Nigeria my country is seen by our populace as normal thing the government should let be to ease the problem of hike in prices of foreign products imported into the country legally. The government of my country has zero tolerance for smuggling because it threatens the growth of our economy but yet some people see it as a means of living.

I will not place all the total blame on the smugglers neither will I say place it on our government system, reason is because most of the fault is from both ends. In a good system of government, the citizen needs should be pertinent in the heart of the government, secure transportion of goods and services, a friendly levy or tax are to be incurred on goods, i believe if the govt are doing all their best towards acheiving this smugglers will definitely reduce to the minimum. Like wise the citizen that as well derive joy in smuggling different goods without the permission of the government, the task force in charge are there to perform the necesary regulation towards the healthy living of other citizen, some those goods smugglers transport might be contraband goods, while some just because the levy requested is on the high side they now decided to compare smugglers fee to govt offical levy.

What a coincidence. While reading this thread there is the news on tv about suspected smuggling of pork because the price of pork in the market had risen to almost 50% of the price, from 300 to 420 pesos. There is a shortage which means the traders are not buying from the local farms and more likely they are selling the imported pork. But importation is not legal which means the importers are smuggling the pork.
