How long does it take to sue someone for copyright infringement?

Have you ever had to sue someone for copyright infringement? How long did the process take until you received compensation or until a resolution was agreed to? Did your lawyer help or do you think you could have done it on your own?
Suing anyone for infringement of copyright requires bringing a civil complaint in court, which can be a lengthy process. According to the intricacy of the issue and whether the parties are capable of reaching an out-of-court resolution, it typically takes between a few months and a few years.

It depends on a number of factors, but I'll try to give you an idea of how long it takes for legal action to be taken in these cases. First of all, you have to file a complaint with the court. This means that you need to file paperwork with them stating your claim and asking them for compensation. This process can take up to a month or two, depending on how busy the courts are at the time. Then, once you've filed your complaint, it will be sent over to someone who specializes in copyright infringement cases (usually an attorney).

The attorney will review your complaint and decide whether or not they believe your case has merit. If they do believe it has merit (and if they think they can win), they'll work with you on preparing your case for trial so that they can present it before a judge or jury. This process could take anywhere from several months up to a year or more.

If there are multiple parties involved in the suit (for example: if one party accuses another of copyright infringement), then those court proceedings can take even longer because now there are more people involved who all have their own lawyers and need additional time to prepare their cases for trial as well.
in most cases it takes more than the two month you just mention as some countries judicial process is quite slow which could result as a deficiency on the numbers of judges available in the country etc.

I have not sued anyone for copyright infringement before and as for how long it will take, i think a lawyer will be in a good position to answer that properly.
I think it depends on how much money the person have because some people can Sue others within a few days but it depends on how much money they can use to do the case.

I have never done this myself, however, based on what I have seen locally, suing for copyright takes a long time. YOu will first have to file a case in the court. It takes a couple of days to do that. The court then gives 35 days to the defendant to reply. Once the defendant replies, there will be multiple hearings. It might take a couple of years before the case is settled.
