How do you deal with spam and trolls on your sites?

Banning is the way to go. These people spam their links, and it can very damage a forum's reputation. It's better to warn them, and if they don't change, ban them. These people don't want to be on the forum.
 
If it just one or two spam posts, or even one or two troll posts depending on how bad it is I may just give a warning. I like to give people a chance. If they mess up again though it ends up in a ban, and usually that is often what has to happen unfortunately. If it like 50 spam posts and they joined just to troll, banned instantly.

Getting rid of spams from your website actually starts from when you allow no easy registration because you're going to have a security check that is going to prevent spammers from joining the website. After setting up the website, you must also have moderators that are going to help you to keep the website clean from those that are spamming it.

Personally for me I am always in favour of making use of e-mail verification when it comes to registration on website because that is one of the best way that you can prevent any kind of spamming in your website because you're going to know that it is human beings that are registered on your website and not bots.

I have personally had this kind of member in a forum I was helping to manage. It was as if the user came from somewhere with a vendetta. The first few troll posts he posted, I had him warned but he never cared nor did he reply to my DM. I had him banned afterwards permanently.

I don't believe that, in as much as there are different kinds of people I don't believe there's a kind of person that will want to register on the platform for earning sake and not go through the rules knowingly or unknowingly. What I mean is for someone to want to register and a platform to make Returns like this platform you must have made the research so as far as the person can make a research the person must have come across the rules.

When I come across spammers or trolls on my site or forum, I first issue a warning, reminding them of the community guidelines and expectations. If their behavior persists, I take more decisive action and ban them from the platform. Prompt and firm action is often necessary to deter such behavior and keep the space safe and enjoyable for everyone.
 
When encountering one or two spam or troll posts, I prefer to start with a warning, allowing individuals a chance to correct their behavior. However, if they persist in their disruptive actions, a ban becomes necessary, and unfortunately, that is often the outcome. On the other hand, if a user floods the platform with around 25 spam posts or joins solely to troll, an immediate ban is warranted to protect the community's integrity.
 
Spamming on my forum is definitely not tolerated and will be stopped as soon as possible. I first give the member a friendly warning regarding their spam and if they choose to continue it will then be a formal warning before things such as their account is suspended for a while or even a permanent ban is given.

I am someone who always likes to give people a chance and I feel that after a friendly warning and a formal warning, that is enough and you should have realized that you were doing wrong by then.
 
I have to deal with them very seldom, I've only had two spammers that I had to ban and my board has been open for 5+ years. I ban the type of spammers that come to your board and post one spam advertisement and then leave. If major spamming were to come from a member, even a long-term member, I'd probably have to ban them as well. Trolls I try to just not feed, but if they become a problem then they may have to pay the consequences.

I would not ban any user outright. I think that each and every forum and website has a warning system. They have a particular threshold for warning. Moreover, the warning also expires after certain time. We all make mistakes and when we do not make mistake and mend our ways, the warning gets deleted.
