Technology has given the option for us to work remotely. If we are doing legit jobs, there is no problem in doing that. there are many companies who already hired people in many other countries and they all are working remotely from their home.

I think an online presence would help to a large extent.
To monitor their progress, you will have to get them to report all they achieve daily.
That way, you do not get to pay work not done.
 
They can be handled by setting a well outlined rule that must be followed. Also observe to see if they are people flauting the rules. They should be punished accordingly
 
Zoom is one of the best apps to communicate with your remote staff. You can do video conferencing through Zoom. You can also use upwork to hire remote staff for your business

Yes, I have had a first-hand experience. During the pandemic I worked remotely with other customer service representatives and we worked on set targets, I mean we were given targets to complete on daily basis or weekly basis.
