Instead, when a store sells a product, it purchases the item from a third party and has it shipped directly to the customer. The store owner doesn't handle any inventory and can focus on marketing and customer service. This can be a profitable way of making money, as it eliminates the costs of holding and managing physical inventory. However, the low barrier to entry means that competition can be intense, and finding a profitable niche and reliable suppliers can be a challenge.

Dropshipping is a great opportunity to start an e-commerce business with no upfront investment and minimal operational costs. However, many dropshippers can't make any sales because they are making common mistakes that can be easily avoided. For example, some underestimate the importance of pricing and product research. Researching your target market, competitors’ products and prices, shipping times and fees, etc., are all important factors to consider when sourcing products for your store. Also, without properly detailed descriptions and high-quality pictures of what you’re selling (as well as reviews from happy customers), it can be difficult to make sales. And be prepared to make some investment later on. If you want to actually make a living from dropshipping, you'll have to invest in marketing at some point.
