If you want your site to rank on search engines, you need do-follow backlinks. What are do-follow backlinks exactly? Do follow backlinks are the backlinks that pass link juice and tell the search engines to follow the link. When there are a lot of do follow backlinks from authority sites, your site will be ranked higher on search engines.

It no definitively follows the link, a link from 2005 on your page must be reverted from following to no follow means an article otherwise you will have replies on 2022 about a post from 2005 and I see this happening frequently on blogs or forums so such feature to use with moderation.

I think forum solutions like phpBB and MyBB naturally give out do-follow backlinks. I'm not sure about XenForo. Anyway, it might be worth it to put a signature on such forums, if you can do so without seeming "too much" like a spammer, lol.
