  • Cost Per Action (action refers to the product sale, lead generation, etc.)
  • Cost Per Click (click stands for link visit)
  • Cost Per Like (Likes on your page/posts)
  • Cost Per Views (ad views on Facebook Videos)
These different kinds of Facebook ads are targeted towards different kinds of advertising campaigns. For example, if you only want an impression on your ads, CPM is the best, however, if you want people to click on the link on your ad, CPC ads are better. Your absolutely right. Alot of people on social media gets attracted by good advertisement and getting a like isn't a big deal on Facebook. I personally login atimes and begin to like random posts so long it crosses my timeline and I believe it's not just me into the business of liking random posts for fun.
 
I've tried the CPM and CPC ads on Facebook. I've also used CPL for getting likes to my Facebook page.

Overall, I enjoyed the CPL more, because that data can be used to retarget those people if you have something to sell again.

I've never thought of it this way, that is the stages of the sales funnel.

The CPL worked best for me because it was the awareness stage.
