A decrease in labour productivity can be due to several reasons, first approach is to have a meeting with the staff involved, ask them why there is a decrease in their out put then work on their responses.
It can also be tackled by organising trainings, boosting their morale by increasing salaries or bonuses.
 
There are various ways that organizations can improve work profitability. Interest in actual capital: Increasing the interest in capital merchandise including foundation from governments and the private area can help profitability while bringing down the expense of working together.
 
Well, an in-house survey may work, to solve a problem, you need to identify the cause first. So after going through the survey, I can then know where to best tackle the situation.
 
As a business manager, we must study why labor productivity has decreased, what problems are occurring, and we must investigate the causes of decreased labor productivity due to several reasons such as: low salaries, no guarantee of work safety, lazy workers, poor work environment. healthy etc, once we know what causes labor productivity to decline, we as business managers will certainly be able to solve that problem.

As a manager who is experiencing reduction in my labour productivity, what I will do is to first investigate the reason why their level of productivity is dropping and after I find out the reason, I will start by solving those issues on ground then give them a proper motivation to go along with it, so that they can be motivated to work harder and thereby increasing the company's overall productivity.
 
The duty of a manager is to be in charge of every responsibility of managing a company, and if anything strange happend he/she is the one that find out find solutions on it. So, if have privilege to be a manager of a company and noticed that the productivities have been reduced, then I will make investigation on it and find solutions to it if there is any problem.

I agreed with you,. A positive interaction between the manager/employer and the employees have a great impact on the output of the production in a business. If the relationship is not cordial,then their production will be affected.
 
There is a job here called efficiency engineer but I have not met one in reality. I think the efficiency engineer is just a fictional specialist to check on the efficiency of the labor force. It is not easy to increase the production when the manpower is down in morale. The pep talk that I always hear in a factory is about the folding up of the business. If that happens then there will be no more factory. That fear of losing their job would motivate the workers to produce more. I have worked in a factory in San Jose, California and I have heard of that kind of pep talk.

The best way to avoid decreased productivity is exactly as you describe in the thread. The main reason is the discouragement of the employees and for this it must be motivated, one of the best ways is to reward them as they reach a weekly or daily goal, there are different ways to reward them.
