Has anyone here looked into or considered running their own B&B business? I know of a few people who have done this and they have made it pretty successful. They bought up cheaper homes, fixed them up, and they rent them out year-round. The peak season seems to be April through August for them and they average $5,500 a month between both homes and this is after utilities, fees, and cleanings are done. That seems like really good money.

I have never considered of starting a B&B business. If someone is interested in starting a new business and explore the worlds of tourism and hospitality, they should consider starting a bed and breakfast business. (B&B)

The Bed and Breakfast Association reckons the UK’s bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) generate some £2 billion a year in revenue, helping the B&B industry to overtake budget hotels in terms of income.

Tourism is one of the UK’s healthiest and most lucrative commercial industries. According to Visit Britain , the UK’s tourism sector will be worth over £257 billion by 2025 – which is just under 10% of the UK’s total income and will support almost 3.8 million jobs across the country. But you don’t need to join a multinational hotel chain or set up an amusement park to capitalise on the UK’s booming tourist footfall. All it takes is a couple of spare rooms.

So, why are B&Bs making more money when compared with established hotels? Simply put, customers prefer them. According to researchers at TripAdvisor, UK B&Bs are rated 8.8% higher for quality than hotels and bearing in mind that bed and breakfasts tend to provide a far more basic range of services, B&B owners stand to gain a far higher profit margin. After running costs, B&B owners say it’s fairly easy to make a profit margin of up to 60%.

I read a poll they did a few years back the other day that said what you mentioned. People prefer to stay in homes and away from people, especially post-covid. You have more freedom and control over your stay as well. You get a full kitchen and don't feel confined to stay in one small space.

I quite agree with you that it's a profitable business but if you're not in a popular tourist area, I fear one might struggle with landing clients for such houses. It'll be better to research the area before thinking of acquiring any property.

I completely agree that it's a successful business, but I worry that if you're not in a well-known tourist locale, you would have trouble finding customers for these homes.
Before considering buying any house, it will be better to do some research on the neighborhood.

Researching about the property and the area is one of the most important things. Our family was about to purchase a property that had technical issues associated with it in regards to legality of the property. We researched about it and found many issues that saved us.

A B&B business can be lucrative with the corect strategy. B&B proprietors must have a
deep awareness of their sector, a full idea of their local market, and a sound business plan in order to ensure success. They must
also be capable of making wise sales and marketing choices and effectively managing their funds well

Before proceeding to acquire a house to offer BNB services it is best to research the area you want to buy , information you need to gather includes tax regulations, economic conditions of the area, if it has a higher number of tourists visiting the area per year and the appreciation rate of housing and landed properties in the region of choice.
