5 Common Habits That May Harm Your Kidneys

The kidney is two vital organ located at the back side of the chest region, which plays a significant role in osmoregulation and eradicating toxic substances in the body.

Some habits could damage and impair the proper functioning of the kidney, which in some cases usually results in chronic kidney disease. This dangerous habit includes the following.

1) Not Drinking Enough Water

Refusing to take adequate water is the most prevalent habit people exhibit worldwide due to a lack of understanding. Many people purposely care less about water consumption, but this habit affects the kidney and other vital organs of the body.

For the kidney to function correctly, adequate water must be taken daily; this helps the kidney with every toxin that could lead to kidney infection and another stable disease.

Inadequate water drinking leads to kidney stones which might eventually result in kidney damage.

2) Overdose of drugs or the use of illegal substances

Potent drugs have a long-lasting effect on the kidney. This is because the kidney, like many other organs, has the capacity for drugs that they can regulate.

Hard drugs damaging the kidney include heroin, some painkillers, and cocaine.

When hard drugs like cocaine are taken, this leads to the disintegration of fibromuscular bundles and the release of myoglobin into the blood, which leads to kidney blockage, high acidic levels, and oxygen depletion, which may result in kidney failure and another kidney-related disease.

To ensure proper kidney health, hard drugs should ultimately be eliminated. Instead, drugs must be taken after proper consultation from adequate medical practitioners.

3) Excessive Use of Salt

Salt has been known to increase blood pressure, eventually contributing to kidney failure and other related diseases.
Too much salt affects the kidney and other vital organs of the body.

It has been observed that excess salt in the body will alter the balance of sodium and potassium, which are essential for water balance. When water levels are not adequately balanced, it leads to high blood pressure, which leads to kidney disease and declination.

Too much salt doubles the presence of protein in the urine leading to depreciative kidney function

4) Excessive Alcohol Consumption

Overuse of alcohol has terrible side effects on the kidney, including another dedicated part of the body.
Alcohol slowly damages the proper functioning of the kidney, making it less likely to work correctly.
Alcohol is also known to cripple kidney energy, which controls the body's fluid and normal electrolytic process; this leads to dehydration due to frequent urination, which affects the kidney's ability to function correctly.

It has been noticed that heavy drinkers are three times more likely to develop kidney-related problems in the future.
To ensure proper kidney function, alcohol much be eliminated entirely or seek counseling from proper medical personnel to know the appropriate amounts to be consumed daily

5) Excessive Consumption of High Processed Foods

Process food is dangerous; packaged food has a high concentration of phosphorus with few essential nutrients needed. This element, together with potassium, is dangerous for the kidney and increase the risk of developing diabetes which is harmful to the kidney.
