Cats are considered one of the most incredible animals interacting with humans. Humans have domesticated cats for a long time, and now it is widespread to find cats in many houses. Many people keep many different kinds of pets. For example, some people keep dogs as pets, and others also keep cats as pets. Since many people are cat owners, we would like to discuss some issues and mistakes many cat owners usually make. So, let's begin with this!

You Do Not Feed Your Cat At The Proper Time

Well, this is one of the biggest mistakes many cat owners may usually make. Many people might think that they feed their cats well. However, this might not be the case in all cases. Some studies have also suggested that feeding your cat a large amount of food once a day might be healthier than feeding them at different times and offering them food in small quantities. This is something that was published in a journal known as PLOS One. The study also shows that cats that eat their food once a day may burn more calories comparatively.

You Declaw Your Cat

This is also one of the worst mistakes you could make as a cat owner. Many cat owners tend to declaw their cats. There could be many reasons for that. Your cat might be scratching things here and there, which may annoy many people. Moreover, many people also declaw their cats because the cat might attack them during certain times. However, a study reported in a peer-reviewed sub-journal known as the Journal of Feline Medicine has provided much evidence that suggests that the declawing of cats could be harmful to them, especially regarding behavioral changes. Declawing makes your cat more annoyed, which could lead to anger in cats. The study has also pointed out that declawing could cause pain in cats.

You Do Not Keep Your Cat Inside Your House

When you keep a cat as your pet, it is normal for a cat to go outside your house. Cats are social animals who need to interact with other cats in the neighborhood. However, the main problem is that exposing your pet cat to other stray cats could increase the chances of your cat catching parasites and pathogens from wildlife, according to a study by a few University of Maryland students. The study suggests that there is approximately a 60 percent chance that the cat may encounter some animal in the vicinity. In addition, there are many deadly pathogens that a cat could catch, and one of them is rabies. Many people would say that they would prevent such pathogens by getting their pets vaccinated, but why would you expose your cats to such deadly pathogens in the first place?

Conclusion

There are a lot of mistakes cat owners make, and it is always essential to consider various factors before you adopt or get a cat. For example, domestic cats are pretty vulnerable to many diseases, so you must never allow them to go outside. Declawing the cat could also hurt them as well as feeding them again and again.

I am against declawing. declawing a cat is similar to chopping off your finger. Would you be able to hold anything if you don't have fingers? I am also against spaying and neutering.
